   This Is Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra, Vol. 1 is the first of two volumes originally released in a series by RCA Victor, which was created in response to a resurgence in big band recreations during the late '60s and early '70s, and is a reissue of 20 famous recordings by Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra. The album was subsequently re-released in by Collectables Records.

   Hier auf dieser wunderschönen Doppel-CD haben wir dann die Jahre ,darunter sogar Titel nach dem Tode Tommy Dorseys,vom November (Titel der CD2).Wir haben Aufnahmen von der LP "The Fabulous Dorseys in Hifi,Vol.1&2",aufgenommen irgendwann Anfang /5(18).

   Brand New. Trombonist and bandleader Tommy Dorsey was the premier ballad player of the Swing era. He and his brother Jimmy (also a bandleader who played alto sax and clarinet) collectively had nearly three hundred songs hit the charts from the late '20s to the'40s.4/5(1).

   The Dorsey brothers went their separate ways in when their orchestra broke up after a series of disagreements came to a head. We are fortunate that they reunited some twenty years on, and this compilation comprises three albums from the mid-fifties, plus five tracks from the album "The Great T.D." together with a late CBS Radio Network recording that was never aired because of Tommy 4/5(19).

   Tommy Dorsey. Thomas Francis "Tommy" Dorsey, Jr. (November 19, - November 26, ) was an American jazz trombonist, trumpeter, composer, and bandleader of the Big Band era. He was known as "The Sentimental Gentleman of Swing", due to his smooth-toned trombone playing.
